Awesome book!

Rhett is a billionaire who owns hundreds of patents and started his own MLB team. He used to live in obscurity but now his team has won the world series he is a major catch. He is a dom who never acts without permission due to past family history. His friends talk him into starring in a new reality show which features him getting to know 9 women . The woman he picks will earn lots of money and go on a two week vacation with him. He won't promise love since he doesn't believe in love or soulmates.
Emery is from a small mining town in West Virginia. She was best friends with a gay pro-football player and pretended to be his girlfriend. When her friend is shot at a gay bar, her life falls apart. She can't earn enough money to live in NYC and is returning home. Problem is her dad is a hoarder and his house is disgusting. Then she gets a call to work on the set of a new reality show which she accepts.
When Emery and Rhett meet, sparks fly. Emery is not the typical girl Rhett is interested in but he can't get her out of his mind. She is an innocent so he feels guilty for all the dirty things he wants to do to her. Then it is the first official day of shooting, one of the girl contestants drops out leaving an opening that they only have time to use a staff member to fill. Rhett suggests Emery and so she is now a contestant. As the contest goes on, Rhett and Emery get closer and share painful things in their lives. Will Rhett change his mind about love?
This is a great book and makes me want to go back and read more of the series. The characters are rich and have real human emotions. The passion is super hot. I love Nana!

Rhett is the owner of the World Series Champions Beasts baseball team when he is convinced to be the “Bachelor” on The Biggest Catch, a reality dating show. He has a few concerns as he has secrets and wants to keep his personal life private especially since they are taping the show at one of his homes.

When Emery’s mother passed away her father was unable to deal which resulted in her being bullied as a child and now her best friend Ryan has passed away and his secret life revealed leaving her homeless. Being hired as an assistant for the dating show couldn’t come at a better time.

Their first meeting is at his gym and he is drawn to her in a way he hasn’t felt before. When one of the contestants drops out he convinces the producers that Emery should take her place. Is there any way for Rhett and Emery to get their HEA when chaos erupts from a group of gold digging, back stabbing women who will do whatever is necessary to get their man?

There is a great combination of humor, drama and chemistry. I loved all the characters but Nana Steele stole the show. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

One heck of a read - 5++ stars

This was a love story like no other that is out there at this time. With the painful past that Rhett has dealt with, that causes him to NOT believe in love and forever with anyone to the secrets that Emery has kept, this book will bring you to a place that makes you want to reach in and give them both huge hugs and make everything better for them. The emotional rollercoaster Ms. Ward takes us on is spellbinding and shows us all a great lesson in human behavior. Nana really sealed the deal, causing me to reflect on my mother and the things I miss about having her around. I definitely want to go back and read the rest of the books in this series. Excellent storytelling! I enjoyed it so much that I purchased a copy of it as well, just so I could have all five stories!

About the Author
James Kurose teaches at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His research interests include network protocols and architecture, network measurement, sensor networks, multimedia communication, and modeling and performance evaluation. He received his PhD from Columbia University.

Keith Ross is a professor of computer science at Polytechnic University. He has worked in peer-to-peer networking, Internet measurement, video streaming, Web caching, multi-service loss networks, content distribution networks, voice over IP, optimization, queuing theory, optimal control of queues, and Markov decision processes. Professor Ross received his PhD in Computer and Control Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Best book for a first course in networking

Previously I had written a review on "Computer Networks" by Tanenbaum and Wetherall. I had no exposure to Kurose & Ross, so I thought it was the best around. I was incorrect. Don't get me wrong, the Tanenbaum book is still quite good. But I am now using Kurose & Ross for my networking class, and it is far better for an intuitive understanding of networking.

What makes Kurose & Ross better for a first course in networking? It reads quite well (except for Chapter 5, I think the editor forgot to take a look at that one), which is an incredible achievement for a networking book. The flow of the book is much better, as is the approach to explanations. They approach their explanations of networking as though you are a person who has no exposure to networking. I do not think the Tanenbaum book is quite so careful. What does this mean in terms of the book? K&R uses many analogies to help you understand. It also has an entire section devoted to everything that happens, step by step, when a user requests a webpage. DHCP, ARP, TCP, HTTP, etc. This is great for the big picture.

Also, K&R motivates the materials by explaining the dilemma they faced at the time, what the conceptual design considerations are, and then you are primed for the explanation of the actual protocols. This is vastly helpful. Another point for K&R is the top down approach. It really provide a significant improvement for the average student.

Lastly, I think the scope and content of K&R is better for a first course in networking. They are quite detailed, yet they leave out other things that are extraneous to our current understanding of networking (e.g. Shannon's limit and Nyquist's Theorem -- the way my networking prof put it, those have been settled debates for many years, and don't really affect the study of networking today). Which lends itself to my final point: the math used in K&R is WAY more practical and intuitive. Propagation, Transmission, and Queueing delay, queueing efficiency, the difference in time between persistent and non-persistent HTTP, etc. Tanenbaum doesn't really have the unified picture in this regard, and some of the math in it is very unrealistic for a first course.

All in all, an incredible networking text.

Top 4 Computer Network Books Compared

This review compares the following four books:
Computer Networks by Peterson and Davie (P & D)
Computer Networks by Tanenbaum
Computer Networks by Comer / Internetworking with TCP/IP
Computer Networking by Kurose and Ross (K & R)

By far the best book in the list is "Computer Networking" by Kurose and Ross. This book covers all of the essential material that is in the other books but manages to do so in a relevant and entertaining way. This book is very up to date as seen by the release of the 5th Ed when the 4th Ed is barely two years old. There are lots of practical exercises using wireshark and the companion website is actually useful and relevant. The attitude of this book with regard to teaching networking concepts could be summed up as "try it out and see for yourself". One interesting thing to note is that the socket programming example are all in Java.

Next up is the Peterson and Davie book which covers everything that Kurose and Ross discuss but is slightly more mathematical in how it goes about things. There are a lot more numerical examples and defining of formulas in this book which is fine by me and in no way detracts from the book. Also the socket programming examples are in C which is a little more traditional. The points where this text loses ground to K & R is that it doesn't have the practical application exercises that K & R has and it also doesn't extend the basic networking theory that is covered to modern protocols like K & R.

The two Comer books come next. Comer's "Computer Networks" book is probably the most introductory book out of this whole list and is more of a survey of networking topics that doesn't cover anything in any real depth. Still, this is an excellent book in that it is a quick clear read that is very lucid in its explanations and you can't help feeling that you understand everything that is covered in the book. Comer's TCP/IP book is the equivalent of the other authors' computer network books and in that respect it is pretty average. It covers all of the relevant material and in a manner which is more than readable but that is all. There is nothing exceptional about the book which stands out from the rest.

Last comes Tanenbaum's book from the author who is probably most famous for his OS books. This is probably the most technical and detailed of the books with lots of sample C code belying is experience with operating systems and their network stack code. The weak point of this book is that all of the code and technical minutia might prevent the reader from seeing the forest for the trees. Unless you are trying to learn how to program your own network stack for a Unix/Linux system, then I would get either the K & R book or the P & D book to learn networking for the first time. This book would best be served as a reference in which case the technical nature of the book becomes a benefit rather than detracting from the text.

Not good for an introductory course, good for network-level software design

I think it's worth starting off by saying that I'm not going to be too detail specific. I rented this as part of an introductory networking course. Unfortunately, the course and the book don't really work well together. Some aspects of networking are really detailed and thorough - especially when discussing how to build the network layer into software, but when trying to understand the concepts, this book misses pretty significantly. I found myself flipping through several pages looking for the meat of the topic. ("Is there a page missing? Why did it end there?") This could be a good reference book, however some of the core examples are too specific to certain transient solutions or technologies. I liked that the book was organized into the network layers, but there was still some cherry-picking of the details that should have had more content. This has been mentioned in another review as well.

The best Polish grammar available today

This is by far the best, most comprehensive, and most up-to-date Polish grammar available. I recommend it highly.

I have a small bookshelf full of Polish grammatical texts, most of which are dog-eared and disintegrating from years of heavy use. Among them are Bielec's "Polish: An Essential Grammar" (which, in my opinion, is good, but somewhat frustratingly organized, and more of an overview than a comprehensive reference), Janecki's indispensable "301 Polish Verbs", and Swan's "Grammar of Contemporary Polish" (which has an excellent explanation of, among other things, the declension of cardinal and ordinal numbers in Polish, a topic which I normally find completely inscrutable). I'd always considered Swan's work to be the gold standard when it comes to Polish grammatical reference texts for English-speakers, but Sadowska has easily surpassed it with her new "Polish: A Comprehensive Grammar". Her book is written with the intellectual rigor of a professional scholar, the accessibility and empathy of a natural teacher, and the rich insights into the grammar, syntax, and contemporary usage of Polish that only a native speaker can possess.

The other texts mentioned above are quite good, in their own way, but Sadowska's book invariably goes two or three levels "deeper", to explore and elucidate nuances of language that other books usually don't even bother to mention at all. The lasting thought that I'm left with after reading Sadowska is that "If an element of Polish grammar isn't mentioned *somewhere* in her book, then it probably doesn't exist."

Reading her text is like taking a Polish course with a patient, thoughtful native speaker who will walk you through everything that you could ever possible want or need to know about the form and usage of the Polish language. I especially appreciate the fact that her book isn't written in a dry, abstract style, but is brimming with sample sentences exemplifying all of the grammatical points. This is very helpful for people (like me) who find it easier to learn when rules and theoretical structures are complemented with a wealth of real-world examples.

Personally, I imagine that every self-respecting school library ought to have a copy, and I think that the book will be an invaluable work for writers, translators, scholars, and intermediate or advanced students of Polish who have found books like Swan's "Grammar of Contemporary Polish" helpful but incomplete, and who have have been yearning for a truly comprehensive and up-to-date exploration of the most intricate (and beautiful) mysteries of the Polish language.

I haven't yet seen the Kindle version, but if I ever have the chance, I'll try to update this review with any additional comments, if I notice that the Kindle version differs in any way from the printed book.

A Valuable Resource

The English language has been crying out for a comprehensive, yet facile treatment of the Polish language. Surprisingly, such a book didn't exist before the publication of this fine new work from Iwona Sadowska, Chair of Polish Studies at Georgetown University. The chief value of the book is as the title suggests, it's thoroughness. Just about every possibility in the tricky Polish language is covered in a very specific, concrete manner that demystifies the language. Indeed, when one uses this book, I feel the only excuse for not learning correct Polish is failure to read it! At 672 pages, it packs a punch, but the beauty of it is you can rest assured you have the veritable Bible of the topic.

But where the book moves past good to become brilliant, is its ease of use. Grammatical topics are organized in a very logical sequence which makes looking up questions easy. Plenty of tables and examples guide the reader through the book and provide quick visual references. At its length, such a book could be unwieldy, but the worlds seem to leap off the page in an airy fashion making you forget how dense and protracted the subject matter is. Such is Professor Sadowska's gift -- making the complex Polish language not only accessible, but a joy to study and understand. She doesn't shield the reader from the language's complexities, but embraces them and demystifies them in a way that turns the proposition of learning Polish around 180 degrees. What once was a daunting, conjugation & consonant-ridden task is now a gentler passage to Polish language proficiency.

I highly recommend this book, no matter the price, to all students of the Polish language; in fact, I would classify it as essential. I can't imagine learning Polish without this book; for one, I wouldn't be assured what I was learning was correct or complete, and two, it would take a lot longer. With Polish: A Comprehensive Grammar, you have the best of both worlds -- technical excellence & thoroughness and extreme usability.

Great resource for food addiction

I am new to Overeaters Anonymous and understanding the program. The book is well written and does a great job adapting the Alcoholics Anonymous program to food addiction and compulsive overeating. The text focuses incredibly well on the addiction and the behaviors that define it while taking an approachable and empathetic tone. Anyone who struggles with food or knows someone who does would be greatly benefited by this book.

This is The Book for OA...it help's anybody learn how to live a life free of the addiction. food; or for that matter addiction period. It helps one find a better way of living...mostly in the "now" it's an offshoot of AA and by living the steps...I've found a new and happier life.

Excellent book! I'm unable to attend the meetings but this book really helps me understand the 12 steps.... Everyday I read small passages from the book, it helps me keep control of my way of eating and thinking. I have the paperback version, I'm a bit old school so I rather have something I can hold on to and highlight.

Outstanding deal

I couldn't believe it when I bought 36 works by Jules Verne for a few dollars for my iPod. I thought I'd be lucky if I got some poorly scanned and OCRed stuff but this is top quality! I'm maybe half way through the first book (20,000 leagues...) and there are no OCR errors.

Then I found out I can read these books on my PC too and it auto-syncs with my iPod. I really love this Kindle app, so much that I'm thinking about getting a Kindle.

Simply fantastic if you like classic science-ficton as I do.

P.S. I recommend having Google Earth running as you read 20,000 leagues under the sea - it's really cool to type the coordinates in and see where the author is taking you. You enter coordinates in the form dd mm'ss" N/S, dd mm'ss" E/W. Remember that Jules Verne is using a Paris meridian which is 2 degrees 21' East of Greenwich.

Very good, but not best or biggest, Verne collection.

Of all the Jules Verne ebook compilations containing 30+ titles currently available in the Kindle store, this Halcyon Press edition is pretty good. An active TOC pinpoints specific content. I am particularly happy to see a full and modern translation of "20,000 Leagues" by F.P.Walter (though he is not credited and his informative, introductory essay is not included). I'm also glad to see a true ("Professor Lidenbrock and Axel") translation of "Journey to the Interior of the Earth" rather than the sadly all-too-common bogus ("Professor Hardwigg and Harry") version often passed off as being by Verne. The other major works are translated reasonably well keeping in mind that these are older, public domain versions. I do, however, prefer a slightly different public domain version of "From the Earth to the Moon" and "Dick Sand," but these are quite fine.

I have two quibbles. FIRST is that the few times a graphic should appear, the words "graphic appears here" shows up instead. SECOND is that italics are often represented by an underline before and after the emphasized word(s), __like this___, a confusing annoyance when many such words appear alongside each other on any given page. These are not deal-breakers but something you may wish to consider (and because of them I have subtracted one star from an othrwise 5-star collection). The formatting is otherwise okay.

As to containing 36 works, the count is inflated a tad by counting the two parts of "Captain Hatteras" as separate entities and unnecessarily including (and counting) a duplicate portion of "Mysterious Island." You really get 34 distinct tales (not 36) -- but that is still a lot of Verne, though it is by no means complete. That honor goes to Delphi.

Delphi has a truly complete set, though a dozen works (not yet cheaply available in public domain translations) appear in French for the sake of completeness. Since I am not fluent in that language, I do not fully appreciate their inclusion. I do, however, greatly appreciate the presence of about 20 (!) more titles -- in English -- than this Halcyon (or any other) set contains. That makes the Delphi edition the largest available and the most appealing to me (even though, sadly, the aforementioned modern translation by F.P. Walter is not used in it).

I would encourage you to search, sample, and compare because new Verne collections keep popping up all the time in the Kindle Store. Check to see which titles are included, if the main TOC is active and takes you to additional active TOCs (one for each book), and that the text is formatted to your liking. See if graphics and illustrations are included. The set you ultimately select will depend upon the level of your interest in, and the degree of your enthusiasm for, the writings of Jules Verne. If you want a substantial collection which includes the well-known, great Verne classics, this Halcyon set should be quite fine. But if you want even MORE (as in EVERYTHING), the very BEST is that all-inclusive Delphi set.

About the Author

With over ten years of information security experience, Jeff Bollinger has worked as a security architect and incident responder for both academic and corporate networks. Specializing in investigations, network security monitoring, and intrusion detection, Jeff Bollinger currently works as an information security investigator, and has built and operated one of the world's largest corporate security monitoring infrastructures. Jeff regularly speaks at international FIRST conferences, and writes for the Cisco Security Blog. His recent work includes log mining, search optimization, threat research, and security investigations.

Brandon Enright is a senior information security investigator with Cisco Systems. Brandon has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from UC San Diego where he did research in the Systems and Networking group. Brandon has coauthored several papers on the infrastructure and economics of malware botnets and a paper on the impact of low entropy seeds on the generation of SSL certificates. Some of his work in cryptography includes presenting weaknesses in some of the NIST SHA3 competition candidates, fatally knocking one out of the competition, and authoring the Password Hashing Competition proposal OmegaCrypt. Brandon is a long-time contributor to the Nmap project, a fast and featureful port scanner and security tool. In his free time Brandon enjoys mathematical puzzles and logic games.

Matthew Valites is a senior investigator and site lead on Cisco's Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). He provides expertise building an Incident Response and monitoring program for cloud and hosted service enterprises, with a focus on targeted and high-value assets. A hobbyist Breaker and Maker for as long as he can recall, his current professional responsibilities include security investigations, mining security-centric alerts from large data sets, operationalizing CSIRT's detection logic, and mobile device hacking. Matt enjoys speaking at international conferences, and is keen to share CSIRT's knowledge, best practices, and lessons-learned.

Covers the core bases of building coordinated InfoSec processes

Very good guide on InfoSec program policy development. I think this should be mandatory for anyone moving 'up the chain' in security. In my role as a consultant, I find that there are smart people doing good things...in silos. This guide is a good foundation for building a program that ties disparate efforts together as a cohesive and effective infosec program. This book continues to be a good reference.

I think the book could have been improved with more pictures of alligators and other dangerous reptilian creatures.

Not a bad book (if you skip the first 6 chapters).

I'm a DFIR investigator with a fair share of experience in this field and I've always been interested in any books on such topics. As far as I can tell Crafting the InfoSec Playbook wants to be a guideline for how to run a SOC.
The first chapters cover very generic facts and best practices around IR and the management of a SOC. During the first 6 chapters I felt like reading Cpt. Obvious notes about running a SOC.
The real "action" starts with chapter 7 and it's quite interesting/useful. You can tell the authors have a solid background in IR but the book will be of little help for mature/advanced security teams.

Enduring insights from the ancient ones, still applicable for the eternal dilemmas of human existence

This book rates high for both an engaging, easy writing style, and serious content of some depth. As the Epicureans (if not the Hedonists) might have noted with approval, it was a pleasure to read. The pantheon of ancient western philosophers have provided a wide range of enduring insights that we contemporary mortals should incorporate into our lives in order to live better and wiser. Some of the many ideas put forth are the following (with, in most cases, a separate chapter for explicating the concept):

-- from Epictetus: the importance of distinguishing between what is and is not under our control in life.

-- from the Stoics: the importance of physical and mental training and discipline.

-- from Epicurus, the importance of savoring the moment, and simplifying one's wants and needs.

-- from Heraclitus, the idea of 'cosmic contemplation', seeing the big picture, taking the long view of things.

-- from Pythagoras, the value of mottos, maxims, and their applicability as a kind of "psychological first aid kit."

-- from the Skeptics, the skill of cultivating a healthy doubt, and avoiding dogma, hero-worship, and over-reaction.

-- from Diogenes, tolerating and celebrating creative anarchy.

-- from Plato, the folly of Utopian schemes.

-- from Plutarch, cultivating heroic (resilient) role models.

-- from Aristotle, the cultivation of character through the practice of virtue; the definition of the good life and the art of flourishing.

-- from Socrates and others, courage and celebration in meeting the end of one's life.

The author has done considerable travel and research to search out many places around the globe and on the web where "ordinary" people are actively discussing philosophical ideas and striving to employ these concepts toward the betterment of self and community. I enjoyed William Irvine's book, "A Guide to the Good Life", on modern applications of the ancient Stoics a great deal; this book is even more satisfying because it discusses many classical schools of philosophy in addition to Stoicism.

Thousands of years of philosophy made deeply understandable

Evans does a wonderful job of explaining many different philosophical ideas from ancient Stoicism to modern Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and shows how they are relevant today. He's clearly at the forefront of the philosophical revival and folds in the latest thinking about cognitive neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, and modern philosophy to show how ancient concepts are still relevant today and how they can improve your understanding of the world and your quality of life.

This is the first book I've ever read twice in a row. As soon as I finished it, I started over and still got a lot out of it the second time through. There are not many books you can say that about! I found myself wishing the book was twice as long because the topics are so fresh and interesting. I was disappointed when I reached a chapter end because each section was so enjoyable to read and then contemplate.

I hope there is a follow-up book coming soon.

This is my first review ever on Amazon, but I felt compelled to write because I enjoyed this book so much. Evans has really succeeded in presenting ancient philosophy as something accessible and useful to us all. Philosophy has this stuffy, pompous connotation to it, but after reading this book I felt as if a whole different world had opened right before me. As a business major, I consider this the philosophy class I never had. Evans also has a fairly positive attitude about humans and our ability to be resilient and change ourselves, which I found personally uplifting. Overall, an educational, inspiring book that I will refer back to for years to come. Hope he writes another one soon!

I liked this series before but i think im beginning to love it.

The book begins with you learning that even though celeana is now the King's assassin she is hardly loyal. She has decided to forge the deaths of the people the king deems unworthy instead of killing them as commanded. This is rather risky because the King threatened to kill Chaol, Nehemia, and Nehemias family if she ever failed or didn't return back from hunting someone.
The next person the king decides is a traitor and demands Celeana to kill is Archer Finn, her former friend. Of course she plans on faking his death and getting him to safety but archer tells her that he knows of a rebel group that thinks they know where the heir to the throne of terrasen, princess aelin ashryver galathynius is and that he could feed her information about them. She agrees, eager to learn who this rebel group is and why they think they've found the supposed dead princess.
Meanwhile, things in the castle, Magic seems to be everywhere. Celeana discovers a hidden passageway not only in Queen Elena's tomb but also ones deep underneath the library. Both seem to be connected to fae and their powers, so Celeana enlists nehemia to to teach her the ancient language and help her solve the riddles hidden in the tomb about the three wyrdkeys,which when in possession of all three could control the wyrdgates.
Because she has broken things off with Dorian, sparks begin to fly with choal when celeana prepares a romantic garden dinner and they can't deny their feelings for each other any longer. At the end of the night Celeana makes love for the first time.
Dorian can see that Celeana and Chaol have been getting closer and although it hurts and has begun to drive a wedge between him and his old Friend and captain of the guard he has much bigger problems to worry about because after storming out of a heated debate with his father and adarlens council he punches a stone wall so hard that it cracks and shatters a nearby glass window. The blow should have broken his whole hand but he came away completely fine. After a few more incidents when he gets angry or frightened he realizes that he possesses magic and that if his father ever finds out he would kill him.
Chaol is happily distracted by his love for celeana but the king warns him that he should keep a look out for nehemia because he intends to question her about her city and the rebels forming there and also that there have been death threats made on her so he should assign more guards on her. Chaol knows that Celeana would want to know this information but decides not to tell her because he thinks it might be a test from the king to see if he's loyal to him or celeana.
Then Chaol is a kidnapped. Which leads to a whole series of events. It turns out Archer kidnapped chaol and ordered for nehmia to be murdered because nehemia and archer were working together and they had differing views. But since celeana didn't know about the death threat on nehemias life she went to save chaol. Where they were keeping chaol she learned that nehemia was in danger and chaol knew and didn't tell her. She rushed back to the castle to guard her but when she entered nehemias room found her lying mangled on her bed covered and dead in pools of blood.
Chaol and Dorian and a few guards saw her rushing to nehemias chamber with panic in her eyes so they followed her. Everyone was silent as they saw the gruesome corpse of Nehemia and her gaurds. Celeana went mad with the pain of loss. She felt betrayed by chaol and blammed him for nehemias death. So she lunged at him, pulling out her dagger to kill him. She almost stabbed him in the heart but Dorian used his magic to stay the knife before it went Into choals heart and ren, another guard knocked her out. When she was done grieving she went out for revenge. She found nehemias killer fairly quick because it was Grave. After killing grave and getting the man she thought ordered the kill thrown in the dungeon celeana set out to finish what nehemia hadn't finished. She found out how to open the doors to the under ground dungeon in the library. While in the tunnels she learned that they lead straight to the inside of the clock tower but it was covered completely in obsidian stone. Which made her realize that the king who made the clock tower and owned a ring of the same material was behind all the dark magical things happening and that he had to own one of the wyrd keys. But cleana unknowingly awoken a beast. Dorian came to her rescue and reveled that he had magic to her.
Later, she encounters Archer in Elena's tomb and figures out that he was actually to blame for nehemias murder and kills him but in the midst of the fight she opens a portal that Dorian and chaol help her close. Chaol finds out that she's fae so tricks the king into letting her go to wyndlyn, land of the fae. But chaol didnt know that Celena is actually Aelin lost princess of terrasen and the one person who could destroy the kingdom that he pledged his allegiance to.

I got totally lost in a far off world

The writing is awesome (among the best I've seen) and the storytelling is wonderful. I love the complex characters and the twists and challenges they fight through. The evolution of the characters is brilliant. I savored every sentence of the 448 pages.

Rated R. The story is about an assassin and people are killed. There is gore and lots of blood. There is inconsequential swearing/cursing, and sex happens but is not described.

Series Note: Amazon describes this as Book 2 of 5 (in a 5 Book series). It's not. There are six books planned and word is that the final installment isn't coming out until May 2018. I wish I had noticed this before I started the series because the story is so long, so complex with so many things going on I will not remember most of it by the time the sixth book comes out. ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

***Spoiler Alert*** And if that wasn’t frustrating enough, Book 5 ends in an infuriating cliffhanger {Redacted}.

So, I recommend waiting for the final installment coming out before you dig in to the series. Note that there is a prequel of novellas and a tangent story. That makes a total of seven books. The Book you need to wait for is the eighth book, even though the publisher is calling it Throne of Glass Book #6.

Now Celaena is all business

Once again non-stop action, if a little gory. Gone is most of the whining from book 1. Now Celaena is all business, though she is still sometimes
unsure what is going on. Except when she flies into an uncontrollable rage. Then she really means business.

Celaena Sardothien has now been serving as the King’s Assassin for some months now. But it turns out that she has been faking the deaths of the people the King has sent her to assassinate while they flee with their families to safety.

But then the King assigns her to a man she once knew there in Rifthold. Supposedly he is involved with a rebel group there in the capital which is trying to interfere with the king’s plans. Celaena must find out about this man and his friends, and about the King’s plans so that she will know what to do with him.

In the meantime, she decides that Chaol Westfall is the man for her. They have much in common, and the feeling is definitely mutual. But the rebels interfere with them, and they manage to convince her, mostly erroneously that Chaol has betrayed her. In the tangles of this plot, Nehemia is killed.

Eventually, in the process of confronting the evidence of the King’s plans, Celaena finds out just how much of the rebels’ insinuations about Chaol is true and how much is false. But she is not able to completely trust him again.

Meanwhile, Prince Dorian has been discovering that he has the ability to use magic. In a country where magic has ceased to exist.

Eventually, they discover the source of the King’s power beyond magic. And they discover just a hint of what his plans are. And all of them are only just beginning to discover who they are.
